Welcome to Pioneer School Counseling!
The school counseling program at Pioneer Elementary offers various services and is an important part of the whole school curriculum. The school counselor's primary task is to help students become better learners by providing a comprehensive program that is intended to address academic, social & emotional learning and career needs of all children. Whole class guidance activities, small group instruction, and individual counseling comprise the school’s guidance and counseling program. All of these are geared toward meeting the needs of all students, not just those in a crisis situation. The school counselor is someone who talks, listens and works together with students, teachers, staff, parents... EVERYONE!
There are many ways to see the counselor:
- A student can ask to go to the school counselor's office
- A parent or guardian can ask that the student talk with the school counselor
- A teacher can ask the counselor to see a student
Please note that counseling in the school setting must be brief in nature. The school counselor is available to coordinate a referral to a community agency or therapist if long term therapy is desired.
